Ayabonga Khaka believes a positive mindset will help claim a win over Australia

Proteas Women bowler Ayabonga Khaka says they should maintain a positive mindset to claim a victory in their T20 World Cup semi-final match against Australia at Dubai Stadium this afternoon.

South Africa qualified for the semi-finals after favourable results when the West Indies secured a six-wicket win over England in their final Pool B match on Tuesday. Speaking to SABC Sport, Khaka says remaining in good form will be key against a team they are very familiar with.

"I think we're not focusing on that a lot, we just need to focus on ourselves and what we need to do for the day. We know what they have, and we also know what we have as a side, we'll just go in there as we're playing a semi-final, we'll just go there with that mindset, it doesn't matter who we're playing against, we just need to do our things right and see where we end," Khaka said.

The Proteas have won three of their four group stage matches - starting with a 10-wicket win against West Indies, followed by the 80-run win over Scotland Women and a seven-wicket win against Bangladesh last weekend.

Khaka says she is happy that they have executed their onset plan very well.

"I think we are in a good space as a side, we had plans, we knew where we wanna end. I think it's going in our direction so far and we'll just go to the game and play. It's like we've been here so many times and we just need to make sure that we keep on doing the good things that we've been doing," she added.

The 32-year-old comes with great experience on the national team, having been one of the first players to be awarded a professional contract by Cricket South Africa in 2018.

And this is what she had to say regarding displaying her experience to help the team secure a win against a tough Australian side.

"I think I've been in this situation so many times, I think from 2017 I've played I don't know how many semi-finals but for me, I take every game as a game. It's gonna be a new day tomorrow, it's a game of cricket again, I'll just need to prepare the way I've been preparing, I don't think I'm gonna change now because it's semi-finals. The difference is just execution I guess."
