Blow for MI Cape Town after England's Ben Stokes is ruled out of next year's SA20

England Test captain Ben Stokes has been ruled out of next year's SA20 after it was confirmed that the all-rounder will miss three months of action due to a torn left hamstring.

The injury occurred while bowling on the third day of the third Test in England's recent 2-1 series victory in New Zealand.

The 33-year-old will undergo surgery early next year, ruling him out of SA20 where he was due to be part of the MI Cape Town squad for the tournament that will start on 9 January 2025.

Stokes wrote on social media: "Something else to overcomeâ¦go on then. I've got so much more left in this tank and so much more blood, sweat and tears to go through for my team and this shirt.

"There's a reason I have a phoenix permanently inked on my body."

England's next Test is not until May 2025 when they face Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge before hosting India for a five-match series during the home summer.
