The Capitals are currently top of the SA20 standings with 18 points from six matches, having won four and lost two - the most recent being away to a struggling Paarl Royals at Boland Park on Sunday.
The Tshwane outfit have a quick turnaround ahead of the tie at Newlands this evening (17:30) and Kallis believes this helps them to quickly move on from the disappointing defeat.
"[There is] not a lot of time but I think it's also a good thing [because] you don't want to mull over a loss too much, so yeah, we'll put it behind us, take the lessons that we need to from it and get ready for [today's] game - a big game for us," Kallis told the Capitals' media team.
"So, if we can go into [today] having won five of the seven games we've played so far, [that] almost qualifies us for the semis, so it's a big game for us [against MI Cape Town]."
MI Cape Town were largely considered pre-tournament favourites - at least on paper - and Kallis has seen his side step up to dispel that but refuses to get carried away by their results so far.
"You can never tell in T20 [which the best team is], you've got to play the situations better than the opposition do, and we've done that fairly well so far but there's still a long way to go," he conceded.
"I think the nice thing about this competition is [that] anyone can beat anyone, we've seen that, so I suppose every game is going to be exciting."
