Marizanne Kapp shines as Proteas women claim first win over Australia

The win marked South Africa's first-ever win over Australia in ODIs.

Kapp, hailed as a talismanic allrounder, delivered a stellar performance with both bat and ball, showcasing her versatility and resilience on the field. 

Despite concerns over her fitness following a previous injury, Kapp not only proved her readiness but also emerged as the driving force behind her team's triumph.

Batting first in a weather-affected match, which resulted in the Duckworth-Lewis Method being used, the Proteas posted a formidable total of 229/6, with Kapp leading the charge with an impressive 75 off 87 balls, supported by valuable contributions from her teammates. 

In a clinical bowling display, Kapp further exhibited her prowess, claiming three crucial wickets for just 12 runs in five overs, restricting the Aussies to a mere 149 all out.

Kapp's stellar performance was evident from the outset, as she dismantled the Australian top order with precision, setting the tone for her team's commanding victory. 

Supported by debutant Ayanda Hlubi and seasoned bowlers like Eliz-mari Marx and Nadine de Klerk, Kapp spearheaded the Proteas' relentless assault, leaving the Australians reeling at 71/8 within 14 overs.

Despite a spirited resistance from the Australian lower order, led by Ash Gardner and Kim Garth, Kapp remained undeterred, eventually sealing the match with her clinical bowling.

With the series now levelled at 1-1, the stage is set for an exhilarating decider at the North Sydney Oval on Saturday, as both teams vie for supremacy in what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to an unforgettable series.
