Paarl Royals up for challenge against defending SA20 champions

The Royals are looking to dethrone the back-to-back champions this season, with their first assignment against the Sunrisers in Paarl on Saturday.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Peter says they can’t wait to welcome big crowds on their own home ground.

"I'm really looking forward to the atmosphere, first of all, from the crowd, I think that's something I really look forward to when playing in this Betway SA20," said Peter.

"I think the crowd really brings good vibes into the stadiums and grounds, and it does make the players really want to play for them.

"What I can expect from my teammates is just a good attitude and, obviously, playing each game to win it, but I really think just enjoying each other's company on the field and no matter what the result is, just putting out our best performances."

Despite the big task of facing the most successful team in the league on Saturday, Peter says they refuse to be intimidated in their own backyard.

"For us, it's our opening match of the tournament and it's at home, so we really want to put on a show for the crowd and just really do it for them because they are the ones who come out in numbers to support us," he added.
