South Africa A go down to Sri Lanka A in second one-day as hosts level series

South Africa A went down by seven wickets to their Sri Lanka counterparts in the second one-day in Pallekele on Tuesday as the hosts leveled the three-match series.

The visitors posted a below-par total of 175 all out after fighting knocks from Tristan Stubbs, 59, and Gerald Coetzee who top-scored with 77.

The South Africans were reeling at 42-7 after 16 overs after captain Tony De Zorzi had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Stubbs and Coetzee, batting at number nine, resurrected the innings with a 111-run stand but the innings fell away when the former was dismissed in the 39th over.

The home side had no trouble knocking off the target as Nishan Madushka, who has played three Test matches, belted an unbeaten 107 off just 85 balls.

Sahan Arachchige also contributed 50 not out as Sri Lanka A chased down the total in 29 overs to level the series at 1-1 with the final one-day to be played on Thursday.

The tourists had won the first match of the tour by four wickets on Sunday after Dewald Brevis smashed 98 not out as the South Africans chased down a target of 265.
