Sunrisers Eastern Cape scorch Pretoria Capitals

Sunrisers Eastern Cape marched to an emphatic nine-wicket victory over the Pretoria Capitals in their SA 20 clash in Gqeberha on Monday night.

Proteas star Aiden Markram won the toss and put the Capitals into bat. Openers Phil Salt and Will Jacks got the visitors off to a brisk start, drilling three boundaries and six in the first 11 balls.

Unfortunately for the Capitals, that was as good as it got.

Australian quick Daniel Worral started the collapse at the end of the over, getting one to move away from Salt who knicked off to Tristan Stubbs. The very next ball, his opening partner Jacks couldn't deal with Marco Jansen's short ball and top-edged to short fine leg.

Rilee Rossouw, Colin Ingram and Janes Nessham followed in quick succession, barely troubling the scorers and the Capitals were in all sorts of trouble at 30 for five. Ottniel Baartman - who clean bowled Ingram - continued to star with the ball, picking up three more scalps to wrap up the tail and finish with 4/12.

Chasing a meagre 52 runs, the Sunrisers only lost Dawid Malan in the second over as Jordan Hermann and Tom Abell made easy work of the target, earning the hosts a bonus-point victory.
