Uganda taught a harsh lesson by Afghanistan in T20 World Cup debut

Afghanistan opened their T20 World Cup campaign with a mammoth 125-run victory over debutants Uganda in Guyana.

The African side opted to bowl first with Afghanistan's opening pair putting on 154, wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz making 76 off 45 balls while Ibrahim Zadran hit 70 off 46 balls.

Afghanistan finished on 183 for five and two wickets in the first three balls ensured Uganda were always up against it in the run chase

Only two batters reached double digits after Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi, who finished with five for nine from his four overs, was on a hat-trick in the first over.

Captain Rashid Khan and Naveen Ul Haq took two wickets each to bowl Uganda out for 58 in 16 overs.

Afghanistan play New Zealand next while Uganda will take on Papua New Guinea.
