West Indies captain insists there's plenty to play for in dead rubber Test

The Windies' collapse at Trent Bridge on Sunday, when they slipped from 61 without loss to 143 all out, handed the hosts an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match rubber.

But even though the series is dead and buried, Brathwaite says the Windies have plenty to play for.

He said: "We have five Tests remaining for the year, Test Championship points still at stake so we have a lot to play for and that's motivating the boys.

"It's very important, it's all about fighting. I think once we continue to create that kind of attitude around this Test team, there will be growth.

"All round we haven't put it together as of yet, we batted well at Trent Bridge, we didn't bat well in the second innings and we bowled well in pieces."

West Indies showed some promise with the bat first time around.

Brathwaite fell just short of a half-century and Kavem Hodge struck a maiden Test hundred, while Alick Athanaze and Joshua Da Silva both made 82, the latter not out after a 71-run last-wicket stand with Shamar Joseph.

But after the collapse in the second innings at Nottingham, Brathwaite knows his side need to learn from their mistakes.

He added: "We had a 50-run opening partnership and then from there we lost 10 wickets quite quickly.

"We knew we were in the game so it goes to show you have got to be on it always. Not just for the first three days, as soon as you lose that focus, you could be behind the Test match and lose it. We will learn from that."

Akeem Jordan and Gudakesh Motie will be included in West Indies' squad, with Kevin Sinclair and Jeremiah Louis out injured.

The tourists will also make a last-minute call on whether Joseph is included in the side due to the bowler suffering from flu.
