Zimbabwe smash world record T20I total in Africa sub-regional qualifier against Gambia

Zimbabwe smashed the record for the highest total in a T20 international by posting 344-4 in a historic 290-run thrashing of Gambia in Nairobi.

Captain Sikandar Raza plundered an unbeaten 133 off 43 balls, while there were half-centuries for Brian Bennett (50), Tadiwanashe Marumani (62) and Clive Madande (53 not out).

Zimbabwe's unprecedented total, which included a record 27 sixes â- 15 of which came from Raza â- bettered the 314 runs Nepal managed against Mongolia in September last year.

There were 57 boundaries in the innings overall, which is also a T20 record.

Gambia were then skittled for 54 inside 15 overs of the men's T20 World Cup Africa sub-regional qualifier as they suffered the heaviest defeat in the history of T20 internationals.
