Zwane again rues Chiefs missed chances

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has lamented the missed chances and poor conversion rate upfront as their downfall yet again after they were held to a 2-2 draw by TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium last night.

Chiefs had scored first through Ashley Du Preez before the visitors went ahead, thanks to goals from former Amakhosi captain Bernard Parker and Junior Traore before the end of the first half.

A stunning free-kick from Keagan Dolly inside the final 10 minutes ultimately ensured a share of the spoils in the DStv Premiership encounter, which Zwane felt was two valuable points dropped.

“Second half, I think it was only Kaizer Chiefs and unfortunately, again, in terms of scoring goals, we were not clinical enough to make sure that we get maximum points,” commented Zwane after the match.

“But I must commend the effort of the boys, they gave their all and made it difficult for the opposition, especially in the second half and I’d like to encourage them to continue in this way, in terms of the performance, going into the next game.

“And, ja, it was just unfortunate that we did not get maximum points today. I think we deserved the whole three points, but ja, it wasn’t to be once more.”

Kaizer Chiefs' Itumeleng Khune kicks in pre-match warm-ups

Chiefs also made a last-minute change before kick-off, bringing in Bruce Bvuma for Itumeleng Khune in the goalposts as the latter’s return from injury was curtailed after feeling discomfort in the warm-up.

“Itu was supposed to start, in actual fact. Unfortunately, he had a knee injury – actually, he felt some pain on his knee and went to see the doctor, who gave me the report saying we can’t take a risk, let’s rather play it safe. So, that’s why we had to quickly make a change and start with Bruce,” Zwane explained.
