Breaking: Pirates hijack Sekhukhune deal

SABC Sport can exclusively reveal that Orlando Pirates have hijacked Miguel Timm™s potential transfer to Sekhukhune United.

The Marumo Gallants midfielder was set to move to Babina Noko after the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday night at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, where the Limpopo side were beaten 2-1 by Mamelodi Sundowns in extra-time.

Information provided to SABC Sport had indicated that Timm was expected to put pen to paper with Sekhukhune if another lucrative offer from one of the big sides in Gauteng did not come his way - he had also been linked to Kaizer Chiefs.

Gallants coach Daniel Malesela also confirmed that the midfielder was in the final month of his contract and would be a free agent on 30 June, although the club were desperately trying to hold on to him.

Timm is understood to have been offered a new contract by Gallants but, now with Pirates having extended their hand, the 31-year-old looks set to be part of the Buccaneers™ squad next season.

It does not come as a shock, given that the former SuperSport United junior has become highly rated and was one of the stand-out players for Gallants in the cup final in Phokeng.

Pirates have lacked a bit of that creative element in central midfield during a season in which they tried to challenge for the league title and went all the way in the CAF Confederation Cup, only to lose to RS Berkane of Morocco at the final hurdle last month.

Timm is now expected to join Tapelo Xoki and Eva Nga as the latest recruits to co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids' squad.
