Kaizer Chiefs trophy drought continued following their goalless draw against AmaZulu in the second leg of the MTN8 semifinal in Durban, allowing Usuthu to win the fixture on the away goal rule for a date with Orlando Pirates.
Amakhosi have not won any major silverware since May 2017 under then coach Stuart Baxter, but his successor - and former Chiefs player - Arthur Zwane told journalists after the game that fans will need to be patient.
Surely, they must have seen that the boys tried their level best. Yes, we are all disappointed that we did not win this game and go through to the final, but at the end of the day theres nothing we can change now, the coach explained.
Chiefs now have to switch their focus to the Soweto Derby in the DStv Premiership against a Pirates side that walloped Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 to book their ticket to the cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 5 November.
We just have to focus, this is a journey and we are going to have to improve, obviously - to get things right. We know that we will get things right as time goes on, said Zwane.
