Golden Arrows goalkeeper coach Davies Phiri has confirmed to SABC Sport that he has left the club less than a month before the new seasons gets underway.
The former Zambian international joined Abafana Besthende exactly a year ago to beef up then coach Lehlohonolo Seemas technical team, although the latter did not finish the 2021/22 campaign with the club.
Seema was sacked with a handful of games to go, and Arrows appointed Mabhudi Khenyeza and Vusumuzi Vilakazi in the interim, but have since announced the duo as co-coaches for the 2022/23 term, which kicks off next month.
Phiri is believed to have been informed of the clubs decision earlier this week, but would not elaborate on the reasons why when contacted by SABC Sport.
"Yes, I am no longer with the team," he confirmed, adding that he is departing for "other reasons" and not because his contract has expired.
Its better to look for a team and forget about it. Its football, nothing is permanent.
Phiri is also a former Arrows goalkeeper, having played for Arrows between 2002 and 2006 while still a Zambian international.
Khenyeza and Vilakazis first game as permanent coaches is at home against KZN rivals and Dstv Premiership rookies Richards Bay on August 6 at the Princess Magogo Stadium, a game that will set the tone for both sides.
Phiri will leave a void with his experience but the club is yet to officially announce his replacement in the goalkeeper coaching position.
