Portuguese outfit Braga SC have officially triggered a two-year option on the contract of winger Kobamelo Kodisang, who is understood to be a Kaizer Chiefs target.
Kodisang's agent, Mike Makaab of Prosport International, has confirmed to SABC Sport that the former Bidvest Wits speedster wishes to leave because his parent club now want to loan him out to the lower division, which he feels would stall his career.
According to information received by SABC Sport from within the local football fraternity, Chiefs are hoping to sign Kodisang before the start of the 2022/23 season.
Braga have exercised their option on Kobamelo, thats a further two seasons. Theyve informed us that their intention is to loan him out to a second division team, which we are not happy with - we are not going to accept nor does the player want to do that, Makaab explained.
Kodisang, 22, moved to Braga three years ago after leaving the Clever Boys - a club that no longer exists following their sale in 2020, and had been hoping to make it big in Europe, especially following his appearance at the Olympic Games last year.
The winger was part of coach David Notoanes side in Tokyo and featured in all three of the group stages matches against hosts Japan, France and Mexico.
But he did not get a move elsewhere, and now Chiefs want to offer him a fresh start back in the Premier Soccer League.
So, it is either he remains at Braga and fights for a place in the senior team or we need to look at other options for him. But honestly speaking, we are going to have to let this one unfold in its natural way," Makaab added.
"We as Prosport International are now in discussions with them about the players future."
