Klate makes a promising start against his mentor

Making his debut as the professional football coach in the top flight, former Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United attacker Daine Klate made a promising start last night as Chippa United held SuperSport United to a one-all draw at Lucas Moripe stadium.

Up against his former mentor and the man he won four league titles under-in Gavin Hunt, Klate ensured that the Chillie Boys returned to Gqeberha with a well-earned point. Chippa had opened the score with Zimbabwean international Ronald Pfumbidzai™s header before Bradley Grobler cancelled that out in the second half.

Klate was satisfied with the hard earned away point however as the hosts were missing chance after chance last night, with more than 21 shots at goal, Hunt also lamented the absence of Gamphani Lungu and Thamsanqa Gabuza, two players who were top goal scorers last season but were out due to suspension.

About seven years since he last sat on the bench for United, Hunt returned to the hot seat of the Pretoria based club and they were unfortunate not to secure the maximum points in this game.

The visitors came to this game lacking up front without an out and out striker as some of their new players are still waiting for work permits. But a point gives them something to work on going forward, and Klate says this result makes them to believe on the season ahead.

œlook it is a little bit of belief, I think that™s the most important thing is that belief and coming to SuperSport brings belief-brings us positive mindsets to go back to training and work well because you™ve got a point in your bag the boys start believing and when Wednesday the next game we have to go and improve on that. So it™s always good....clean sheet is obviously first price".

"We gotta pride ourselves for defending but for the best part I think we were brave enough but we gonna back and work on few things, I look forward to Wednesday said Klate.
