Zwane takes positive from Chiefs' result
Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane chose to focus on the positive from their 2-1 victory over Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday night, as Amakhosi moved up to fifth on the DStv Premiership standings.
It gets even tougher for the Dube Birds, who are now bottom of the log with just eight points from nine league games so far, following the sacking of head coach Dylan Kerr last month.
The Glamour Boys got two first-half goals through striker Caleb Bimenyimana and midfielder Keagan Dolly but almost allowed Swallows a way back into the game when Waseem Isaacs cut the lead in half and gave the visitors a slight scare in the second half.
"I think the second half performance could have been much better, we just needed to manage the game and continue from where we left off in the first half," Zwane told reporters after the match.
"But I think we allowed them to put us under pressure and when they got their goal, we were obviously going to be under pressure and they nearly got the equaliser.
"There were some dead-ball situations where we were also quite dangerous, but what is important for us is that it was our first win away from home [this season], though I'm obviously not happy with the second-half performance."
With talks that Swallows are mulling over a shortlist of coaches, including Ernst Middendorp, interim coach Musa Nyatama says he will take responsibility of the dire situation while at the helm.
"We're down there, it's difficult for us but we just need to win our games, that's the only thing. I had to step in and take that responsibility as the team is still looking [for a full-time coach]," the former midfielder said.
"But I must take that responsibility, even though I am inexperienced. It's just for me to try and push the guys and help them out in terms of how they play, the structure and how we convert goals.
"We've been lacking in that department, and we're also conceding a lot of goals. But I'll have to help the guys to shut the back door, and also score goals."
