The event took place on Wednesday at the Chateauroux Shooting Center, where Ruano achieved a record-breaking score, hitting 45 out of 50 shots - the highest score in Olympic history for the women's trap.
Adriana Ruano, 29, showcased her remarkable talent and resilience. Once an artistic gymnast, Ruano had to switch to shooting after suffering a spinal injury.
Her journey in gymnastics was notable; she competed against renowned athletes such as Gabby Douglas and McKayla Maroney at the Pan American Championships.
Overcoming adversity, Ruano's transition to shooting has now placed her in the Olympic history books.
Italy's Silvana Stanco earned the silver medal, while Australia's Penny Smith took bronze, adding to the intense competition in the event.
Notably, Tokyo champion Rehak Stefecekova did not qualify for the final, and World No. 1 Fatima Galvez finished in fifth place.
The shooting events at the Paris Olympics continue on Thursday, 1 August, with the men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions event, promising more excitement and showcasing the world's best marksmen.
