The former Mamelodi Sundowns sensation has been in inspirational form for Al Ahly, being heavily involved as they won their 11th CAF Champions League title, scoring five goals and providing five assists in the tournament.
Tau also walked away with the Man of the Match award on Saturday for his performance in the 2-0 win over Al-Ittihad as they extended their lead at the Egyptian Premier League summit by eight points, to move closer towards the Egyptian Premier League title.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion player has now been linked with a reunion with former coach Vincent Kompany at newly promoted Premier League side Burnley, who he had previously worked under in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League at Anderlecht.
Since joining Al Ahly, the 29-year-old has won all the domestic titles available which include two Egyptian Super Cups and the Egypt Cup. He has featured in 69 matches in all competitions for The Red Devils, scoring 17 goals and providing 12 assists.
The "Lion of Judah" also played an important part in securing 2023 African Cup of Nations qualification for South Africa which he followed up with a dazzling display against Africa's number one ranked side Morocco in a shock 2-1 win in their final 2023 AFCON qualifier.
Al Ahly and Tau need just a further two points from their remaining five league matches to secure another Premier League title and will have the opportunity to achieve this with a win against their traditional Egyptian rivals Zamalek in front of their home fans at the Cairo International Stadium on Thursday.
