CT Tigers in high spirits ahead of the BAL season tip-off

The third season of the Basketball Africa League tips off this weekend at the Dakar Arena in Senegal and South African representatives, Cape Town Tigers remain adamant that they can go all the way in this competition.

Speaking on SAFM Sport On show with Thabiso Mosia last night, Tigers' newly appointed co-coach Rasheed Hazzard reiterated his boss Raphael Edwards’ comments to SABC Sport previously that they have got what it takes to lift this year's title. Hazzard, a former LA Lakers assistant coach says they have all they need to win the league this season.

"We have all the tools and all the elements that it takes to win the BAL Championship. We have some young pieces but that's what makes it exciting because that's an opportunity as a coach for you to teach and help develop their IQ and different things that they need to do to become better players and move to higher levels," he said.

All eyes will be on Tigers’ new signing this season Zaire Wade, the son of NBA and Miami Heat Legend Dwayne Wade, who signed for the South African franchise for this season. And he’s excited about this new chapter.

"It's a blessing, I think it all came full circle. You've just got to go along with this journey and see what it represents. We all have the same goal; we are coming to win the championship. When we found a mutual agreement that they were willing to give me an opportunity to come and play, that was a blessing.  It was hard saying goodbye to my family since it was my first time going away that far but you've got to make sacrifices," Wade said.
