Faeez Jacobs eyeing UFC call in EFC showdown with Vince Bembe

EFC veteran Faeez Jacobs didn’t hide the fact that he is a showman ahead of his bantamweight bout with Vince Bembe on Thursday night.

The stage is all set for a battle of two equally respected fighters in the MMA fraternity for a chance to take the vacant title.

Jacobs says he wants to entertain and beat Bembe in style, with one eye on an international contract in the near future.

"I have been an undisputed champion – when I won the interim [title], the champion at that time refused to defend, so what this moment means to me is this: I am prepared to do whatever it takes to get to the UFC," said Jacobs.

"And I need to – the belt is important, but I want this performance to sell me. So, I'm coming out here to put out something [that is] UFC worthy. The belt will come, but the performance is what I'm looking forward to."

The former champion earned his shot at the belt following impressive wins over Eduardo Barros and Sylvester Chipfumbu, and believes he should be the overwhelming favourites against Bembe too.

"Absolutely. My goal is to be among the best in the world, and then become the best in the world. And I have done this relentlessly for years," he added.

"I made a promise to myself when I was very young, I started following the teachings of Bruce Lee at 16 years old, I have gone against every opinion that has told me otherwise.

"I have overcome adversity when it comes to emotional and psychological blocks; I have overcome adversity of Covid; I have overcome financial adversity to be here.

"I have done everything to rightfully be the champion, and nothing and nobody will stand in my way – I will run through whatever it takes; you can put a lion in there with me, and I will skin him alive. This is my legacy, and I'm here to build that legacy as the greatest."
