The 29-year-old former bronze medal winner in the 2022 world indoor championship will compete for the first time in South Africa in the Absa run your city 10K.
Speaking with SABC Sport exclusively, during the media launch at the Suncoast Casino on Friday expressed his excitement to be competing in South Africa.
"I am really excited about being in South Africa, this is my first time here and I know the athletes are very fast. I hope to match them and win the race," Scott said.
"Just how quick the cross is, I just want to reach the national record, knowing it’s quick, maybe I can be able to do well," he further explained.
"Obviously in South Africa, there are a lot of people, very inclusive to everyone. There is not much difference to the UK.
"I would say, I am the underdog because few people know me this side."
Athletics is one of those codes that attracts millions of people, yet still remains small compared to other codes. Scott is of the opinion that, if the sport is invested in from a development level, it can grow bigger.
"It is difficult, obviously everyone can run, it is just a matter of giving them an opportunity, growing the sport from grassroots to professional level. I think if you get those more involved, we can grow the sport."
