Tennis legend Novak Djokovic set for shortened 2025 calendar

Novak Djokovic only played 13 tournaments on the 2024 ATP Tour, and that number is expected to decrease in 2025.

The tennis great has skipped several high-profile events in 2024 and that is likely to continue next year as he has made no secret of the fact that he plans to play a reduced schedule during the final few years of his career as he wants to spend more time with his family.

"Family life is very important to me. I want to be with my wife and children, to be part of their daily lives, which I haven't been able to do for many years," he stated.

Djokovic has admitted that he is "done" with several tournaments, with the ATP Finals appearing to be one of them after he withdrew from the season-ending event at the backend of 2024.

"As far as I am concerned, I am done with those tournaments for my career," the 24-time Grand Slam winner stated.

He added: "For the first time in my career, I don't have any long-term plans. I live in the moment and I'll see what happens."

But those who think he is close to retiring are wide off the mark as the 37-year-old is intent on playing on the biggest events - including the four Grand Slams - from here on in.

"I don't know what next year will bring in terms of schedule and everything. I know I still want to keep playing," the Serbian added.

"I have to see where I am in my life with my body and everything, but I still have plans to keep going, like these years, prioritising the big events."

So which tournaments are likely to feature on his 2025 tennis calendar?

Djokovic competed at the United Cup, Australian Open, Indian Wells Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Italian Open, Geneva Open, French Open, Wimbledon, Paris Olympics, US Open, Davis Cup World Group and the Shanghai Masters in 2024, but several of those events are unlikely to feature in 2025.

He won only one title in 2024, gold at the Paris Olympics, and finished with a 37-9 win-loss record.
