Tiger Woods returns to action with son Charlie for PNC Championship in Florida

Tiger Woods was back in action for a practice round ahead of the PNC Championship's pro-am on Friday, playing alongside his 14-year-old son Charlie.

The pair will once again take part in the unique scramble tournament in Florida which features elite golfers teaming up with a family member.

While the 15-time major champion had the option of using a golf cart to make his way around the course due to the event being sanctioned by the PGA Tour Champions, he walked all 18 holes on Friday, showing encouraging signs of health and fitness.

"I felt like I was physically fit to do it, and also, walking is always better for my back," Woods told a tour official in a Q&A.

"I just wanted to keep it loose and keep it going, and we're just having so much fun, it doesn't really matter. We had a good time doing it."

Woods, who returned to action at the Hero World Challenge two weeks ago for the first time since having surgery on his ankle in April, said he was more pleased with his shot control on Friday.

"Especially today with the wind blowing as hard as it was, I was able to hit flighted shots nicely, which was not quite on par or as sharp as I was, as I wanted to be at Hero."

This is the fourth time Woods and his son are competing in the PNC Championship, which continues to grow in popularity every year.

Woods also caddied for Charlie at last month's Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship.

"It's a blast for us to be back out here, playing and competing and just enjoying this atmosphere," Tiger said.

"It's been a blast, and hopefully we get through the next day or so without any delays, and hopefully we're able to post something good."
