Dominating his two heats effortlessly, he secured a spot in the final this evening, where he stands as the favourite contender for yet another national victory.
Notching a swift 10.07 seconds in his initial heat and following it up with a solid 10.27 seconds in the semi-final, Simbine exudes confidence as he adheres to the race strategy devised alongside his coach, Werner Prinsloo.
It is the first time this year that he is running in the 100m events after doing the 1500m and 200m in preparations for the national championships.
''Today was really tactical, it's actually just putting the races together and making sure that I am ready for the final,'' said Simbine.
Simbine is looking forward to a memorable season, especially with the Olympics on the horizon and numerous Diamond League competitions scheduled across Europe.
''I feel really good and I am really confident about the season,'' added Simbine.
Even after nearly a decade of dominating the senior national championships, Simbine remains committed to running alongside younger athletes, nurturing their potential to eventually succeed him.
He values the national championships as a cornerstone of his athletics journey, recognizing their significance in his ongoing development.
