Breakdancer Courtnae Paul gearing up for hectic 2025

South African breakdancer Courtnae’ Paul is gearing up for a jam-packed year with two international events already confirmed.

Paul represented the country at the 2024 Olympic Qualifiers in Shanghai, where she unfortunately missed out on a place in Paris, before going on to win the African Championships in Ghana.

Speaking to SABC Sport, the dancer, who also doubles as a disc jockey, says she’s currently preparing to defend her title at the Redbull BC One national event in Johannesburg.

"2025 is looking super booked and busy already, which is exciting and terrifying at the same time, but in the next two months I've got the Redbull BC One national final in Jo'burg at the end of March," said Paul.

"I'm hoping to go for a three-peat, my third title, aiming for my first back-to-back win, and then a couple of weeks after that I'm off to France for a battle called Battle de Vaulx, which I qualified for when I won the African Champs in Ghana last year.

"So there's lots to be excited about, there are still DJ projects on the line as well – amazing campaigns with Redbull, Playstation, and just having all-round fund.

"But I will say that this is probably shaping up to be one of my busiest competitive years that I've ever had, so I'm holding thumbs just for super health and a positive outlook for the balance of the year."
