Iga Swiatek dominates Emma Raducanu in Australian Open third round clash

World No 2 Iga Swiatek delivered a commanding performance to defeat Emma Raducanu 6-1, 6-0 in the third round of the Australian Open at Rod Laver Arena.

The one-sided match will be of concern to Raducanu and her fans as it highlighted the significant gulf in class between the two players, with five-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek showcasing her dominance from start to finish.

Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, struggled to find her rhythm against the top-seeded Pole. Her first serve consistently misfired, and her second serve proved no match for Swiatek's aggressive return game.

The statistics told the story of the match: Raducanu won just 17 of 31 points on her first serve and only five points on her second. Swiatek hit 24 winners to Raducanu's nine and won a total of 59 points compared to Raducanu's 29.

Swiatek's relentless performance left no room for Raducanu to gain a foothold in the match.

"Really great," said Swiatek afterward. "This is what I practice for. To play these kinds of shots and I really enjoyed today's match.

"I felt really confident and at the end, I could push for even more. Converting all these break points was really important and I'm pleased with that performance."

The result advances Swiatek to the fourth round as she continues her quest for another Grand Slam title, while Raducanu will look to regroup after a difficult loss.
