International Olympic Committee (IOC) board member Sam Ramsamy supports current South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) president Barry Hendricks for a second term.
SASCOC is preparing to elect a new board on November 30 at its headquarters.
With nominations for board positions closing tomorrow, speaking to SABC Sport, Ramsamy, who serves as SASCOC's honorary president, expressed his confidence in Hendricks' leadership.
"South Africa during my time had a very stable Olympic committee and since then they got a bit disorganised and I'm happy to say under Barry Hendricks, the stability has been organised to such an extent,” Ramsay said.
"At the moment, I don't wanna say it too loudly but I believe that he should continue as president of the country's Olympic committee to make sure that whatever arrangements he's made continues for the next four years.
Ramsamy believes there is no other candidate capable of matching Hendricks' achievements over the past four years.
He feels it is only fair for Hendricks to continue his efforts and lead the federation for another term.
"I can say why I want him to continue because he has established in my view stability and normally it takes up to eight years for continued stability to grow. He's got four years and I believe he should be given another four-year opportunity.
"And then after, I believe that anybody else that he prepares and obviously he has to prepare people, whomever he prepares, whomever the executive prepares, whomever South Africa prepares, will take over."
