Limpopo Sport Confederation's Women in Sports coordinator Ria Ledwaba is looking to set up a fan park in the province for the upcoming Netball World Cup.
The global showpiece will see the sport's elite nations competing for the world title from 28 July to 6 August 2023 at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town.
Ledwaba has called a meeting with her team for 28 August to discuss their plans to set up a fan park, something which was largely popular during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The former SAFA vice president says the World Cup presents an opportunity for womens sport to grow on the continent and is confident the Proteas will win the tournament to become the first African country to achieve such a milestone.
"We are going to have that [fan park], definitely, it's one of the things that we are going to have a meeting on, on the 28th, when we are going to plan properly on how do we assist not only Netball but the World Cup," said Ledwaba.
"So, we need to have those fan parks where the people in Limpopo can be able to gather and watch netball together. The Netball World Cup is huge, it's an opportunity for women on the continent, actually, to be motivated and see there are opportunities in sports.
"The fact that we have seen the Netball girls do so well in the last World Cup, we are very confident that, for once, let's have a World Cup trophy on our continent, especially in our country as South Africa. I'm confident we will do well."
