Former EFC flyweight champion Luthando Biko has penned a new contract with Middle East-based Brave Combat Federation and says this is a major step in his mixed martial arts [MMA] career.

''Singing a contract with a global organisation such as Brave Combat - is an amazing step for my career and a chance for me to showcase my skills on a global stage,'' said  Biko.

Biko considers himself an ambassador for Africa as the federation continues to grow its footprint on the continent.

''Fighting in Mauritius and being able to represent South Africa and Africa on a global stage is a great opportunity,'' added Biko.

The veteran fighter said Brave Combat Federation have in the past tried to bring him on board for a championship fight with no luck.

In that sense, May 11 could be a day to remember for Biko.

Although he has previously been crowned EFC flyweight champion, Biko insists the potential of winning a title in another promotion would be the peak of his achievements as an MMA fighter.

''To become a champion for Brave will be the best thing to happen to my career, representing the people of South Africa - that will be great,'' he concluded.
