NSA CEO Modiegi Komane explains why they rescheduled the Malawi test

Netball South Africa (NSA) Chief Executive Officer Modiegi Komane, has confirmed to SABC Sport that the highly anticipated test match between the Proteas and their rivals, Malawi, has been postponed from August to later in the year.

This decision stems from the unavailability of overseas-based players, coinciding with the conclusion of the leagues in Australia, New Zealand, and England by the end of August, clashing with the scheduled test series.

In response to this challenge, head coach Jenny Van Dyk reached out to NSA, requesting a postponement to provide her with additional time to prepare her squad for the test series.

''Some of them are only coming in August, the coach has been in touch with their clubs. They have realised that leagues that side end at the beginning of August. We want to give the coach a chance to train with them, she confirmed that it has been moved from August,'' said Komane.

Komane disclosed to the national broadcaster that the Proteas won’t play against Malawi only this year, saying that they have entered into agreements to play against other countries.

''But there's a couple of agreements we have signed. I don't want to talk about them. There was one interview on the Jamaica thing, and a publication picked it on SABC and then they got it and I had to write and apologise. It becomes challenging to manage relationships and all of that,'' added Komane.

Some of the matches will take place on home soil, with the team also venturing abroad. She mentioned they are actively engaging the sponsors to cover the traveling costs of the intentional teams to play the Proteas in South Africa.
