With 172 caps, four World Cup appearances, and three Commonwealth Games under her belt, Msomi remains the most successful Proteas player in history.
While she won't be on court, she will be supporting the team during their tour of Jamaica and the United Kingdom in January.
The team is currently in camp, preparing for the tour to Jamaica in the first week of January, followed by the Nations Cup, where they will compete against England, Uganda, and Malawi.
"I knew when I left, even with Phumza [Maweni], the seniors, we had to leave that space in a good position and I can proudly say it's in a good position. The girls have all it takes to go all the way up and they have all my support," Msomi said.
"I really loved watching them and I'm looking forward to watching them in January when they play Jamaica and England. I think that also is gonna take us to the next level but I'm so happy for them and I'm looking forward to constantly supporting them because that's what I've been doing and I always do that."
Msomi has known Khanyisa Chawane, the newly appointed Proteas captain, since she was a young girl.
She expressed no surprise at Chawane's rise to lead the senior national team and offered her full support for the role.
"Khanyisa Chawane is one of the kids that actually grew in front of me. Really great talent and potential to lead and at this point she's given a chance to take it on and I think she did a fantastic job against Malawi,” she added.
“As calm as she was, she just did her own job which is actually what you need to do and she is leading leaders as well which helps to not get all the job on top of your shoulders but we definitely do talk. I've told her from day one, if you need any advice or whatever, I can help, I'm here for you and she knows that."
