SA Boxer Simangele Hadebe to fight Gabriela Sanchez for WBC silver

South African boxer Simangele Hadebe aims to overcome Gabriela Sanchez in their World Boxing Council Silver Flyweight fight in Mexico.

SABC Sport reported last year that Hadebe’s fight against Sanchez for the IBF Intercontinental title, which was meant to take place in Johannesburg in May 2024  did not happen after the Mexican boxer cancelled for personal reasons.

Hadebe is confident that she can bring the WBC title home.

"I am definitely hoping to bring back that WBC belt, coming back with it to South Africa and becoming the WBC silver world champion," said Hadebe.

"Myself, my team, and my management feel it's time for me to challenge for a world title, so we couldn't let this opportunity pass by, and it's my wish to become a WBC champion."

The Limpopo-born fighter has been very vocal about how she would like to fight more, and adds that she would also like to challenge for another international belt, specifically the IBF World Championship.

"My plans for 2025 is to win this Silver WBC belt, getting an opportunity to defend it in my own country – if not, then we'll go and defend it outside, or get another opportunity to fight for another belt, whether it's WBC or IBF world champion, it doesn't matter to me," she concluded.
