SA Hockey Men's squads take shape

The South African men's hockey sides are taking shape as the performance and emerging squads were named ahead of a busy schedule leading up to the FIH Hockey World Cup in India next year.

After missing out on the bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, SA Hockey Men are building up towards the World Cup in January but also have the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup next month before going straight into the FIH Nations Cup fro 28 November - 4 December.

Coach Garreth Ewing has selected 38 players for the performance squad, including seven uncapped players, and 26 for the emerging squad, which includes a further 22 uncapped players.

œThe selection process as a difficult one, a lot of players showed good progress since the last time we saw them and we have tried to reward them with inclusion in squads," said Ewing.

"I™m looking forward to working with the groups in the coming months and I hope these players will be willing to work hard and compete for a place in the upcoming tournaments."
