Hendricks, who assumed leadership in 2020, expressed his intent for re-election at the conclusion of the Paralympic Games in Paris in September 2024.
From 2016 until 2020, the Olympic House suffered financial challenges however, the organisation undertook stabilisation measures under the leadership of the new board, led by Hendricks.
This includes the employment of Nozipho Jafta as CEO and the acquisition of additional sponsorships. As he begins his re-election campaign, Hendricks hopes to gain support from numerous national federations.
"It's too early to even start engaging with the election process. But any of the board members and any person who's willing to stand we're going to welcome them for the upcoming elections," said Hendricks.
"The process to stabilise the organisation has been happening over the last three years. We've not had any internal battles, we've not been having any problems around people being ostracised or alienated, and my position is clear, we are going to encourage every person from every federation to stand if they feel they are capable and they are willing to contribute in growing the organisation for the following four years," he continued.
In addition to the electoral activities, 2024 promises to be an eventful year for SASCOC, featuring engagements in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, along with various other scheduled events.
"We'll start the year with the Youth Olympics in South Korea. Then in March, it's going to be the Africa Games in Ghana, then after that, it's going to be the Paris Olympics, then the Paris Para Olympics. Then in December, it's going to be the Region 5 Youth Games in Nambia."
