Rorich, whose illustrious career spanned three decades, captained one of the most successful SA men's volleyball teams, which competed in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, among others. He was a member of the CABV Beach Volleyball Commission and oversaw several African beach volleyball competitions and helped many African national associations build their volleyball systems.
He was a tactician and a mentor who trained many past and present athletes and was always willing to share his knowledge and experience.
CAVB President Bouchra Hajiji expressed condolences to the Rorich family:
“On behalf of the CAVB Board, staff, and the entire African Volleyball family I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them in this time of grief, and we stand by them in these difficult times. May his dearly departed soul rest in peace”, she said.
