Walker: I am running my own EFC race

Fresh from winning the main event at last week™s EFC 97, defeating Boualem Sahraoui with a rear naked choke and forcing the Frenchman to tap out, Gift Walker says he is running his own race to stardom.

The 22-year-old personal trainer wants to keep growing in his Flyweight division and will not feel the pressure now that his counterpart Cameron Saaiman has landed a contract with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

"Me and Cameron we have fought, we shared some moments together, I'm happy for him. I even massaged him-I'm super happy for him but that™s his journey and all these other guys that are chasing UFC contract that™s their journey. I am chasing the UFC, but I am not chasing it too soon. You don™t wanna go into the UFC and just be another UFC fighter, that™s not what I'm going there for," said Walker.

Walker is honest with himself that he is not yet ready to compete with any of the UFC athletes, but has specific targets.

"When I get to UFC I wanna be the UFC World Champion. right now, I look at myself and I'm being honest I cannot this top-five UFC guys, you need to be real with yourself, so I need to go into the big bad world of MMA and I need to experience some overseas guys, I want to build all record. I want to at the end of this be a multiple world champion, I want to have all the money, I want to have all the fame," he added.

"So all these guys who are looking for a quick success they must enjoy it, it™s good for them, I wish them all the best, they must have fun, but they must know that with quick success comes quick failure as well and then they must be ready for the other side as well. Whereas with me whether I win and whether I lose I am still going to be the same Gift Walker the next day, on Monday I'm back In the gym doing what I love, that's it man, that™s it."
