The Rugby World Cup winner has been dealing with issues off the pitch which eventually culminated in the Bulls ending his contract early in June 2023.
On Tuesday, Rugby Pass reported that the Springbok is set to be offered a Currie Cup contract with the Bloemfontien-based franchise. However, Cheetah's management has yet to confirm anything the rumour mill has produced.
However, Cheetahs assistant coach Charl Strydom told local radio station OFM Sport on Wednesday that the franchise could offer Nkosi "a new lease" on the 28-year-old's career should a deal be finalised.
"There have been so many players that have been able to revive their careers back here at the 'States'," said Strydom.
"It's a place where some players pick up their careers again after some disappointments. It's always been a case of players being able to get a new lease on their careers when they get here.
"Hopefully, we can help reach his potential again, because there is no doubt that he has got the pedigree."
Nkosi scored nine tries in 16 Test matches for the Boks, but hasn't featured for the World Cup winners since the 2021 Rugby Championship.
The Barberton native ran out for the World XV in an exhibition match in London last May, where he scored two tries. After, a social media post seemingly directed at the Bulls management ultimately led to his contract being terminated.
