Currie Cup: Cheetahs secure semifinal place with emphatic win against the Pumas

The Cheetahs sealed their place in the Currie Cup semifinals after beating the Pumas 41-14 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday.

The team from Bloemfontein just needed to avoid defeat for a place in the top-four but clinched an emphatic victory after scoring six tries to the one of the hosts.

The Pumas took an early 6-0 lead but the Cheetahs hit back with the first five-pointer of the game when Daniel Kasende crossed the whitewash.

Jandre Nel then added a second try for the with Ethan Wentzel adding both conversions as the Cheetahs took a 14-9 lead into  the halftime break.

Ntiska Fisante brought the home team back into the contest with a try just after the interval but it proved to be the Pumas' final score of the contest.

The visitors asserted their dominance for their rest of the game and ran in another four tries to ensure seal their semi-final spot where they will take on the the table-topping Lions.
