The visitors enjoyed success early on. First, left wing Sako Makata would run straight through the Griffonsâ line from turnover ball, then Dylan Maart scored off the back of the scrum, making it 10-0 after just seven minutes.
The hosts then brought some calm to proceedings, controlling the territory and eventually getting reward when prop Moango Ngudunbe crashed over from close.
But Griquas again scored back-to-back tries to close out the half. A rolling maul saw Marco de Witt get an easy five-pointer, then Makata would seal a brace when he collected a cross-kick from flyhalf Zinedine Robinson.
Unfortunately for the Griffons, the floodgates opened in the second stanza. Unable to handle the quick phases of the Driquas attack, they let in three tries in the first 11 minutes. Hooker Dandre Delport got over, Connor Mahoney scythed through a gap and centre Tertius Kruger also bagged a try.
A yellow card for Mahoney stemmed the tide somewhat, but after he returned, the Griquas ran in two more tries in the closing minutes to complete the domination.
