Australia have suffered two straight defeats to the start of their Rugby Championship campaign - against South Africa and Argentina - and Wright, who started both those games in the number 15 jersey has been left out of the squad along with Brumbies team-mate Pete Samu (back-row) and Melbourne Rebels utility back Reece Hodge.
Rebels duo Josh Kemeny (back-row) and Matt Gibbon (front-row) along with Reds prop Zane Nonggorr have also been dropped.
Meanwhile, front-row duo Pone Fa'amausili (Rebels) and Blake Schoupp (Brumbies) retain their spots in the squad after they were late inclusions for the Sydney Test against Los Pumas.
The squad have also received a boost as several players return from injury, headlined by Rebels full-back Andrew Kellaway.
Kellaway is joined by Waratahs back-row Langi Gleeson and Reds utility back Jordan Petaia for the matches against trans-Tasman rivals the All Blacks in Melbourne and Dunedin.
Exciting Reds front-row Taniela Tupou has also been confirmed to return after making a successful comeback from an Achilles injury via Australia A's game against Tonga last week.
"We're very disappointed with the results during stage one of our campaign," Jones said in a statement.
"We need to find more in stage two and Melbourne will be ground where we will find our best."
After missing the clash with Argentina due to a calf injury, co-captain Michael Hooper has been named in a rehab group, although he remained confident he will be fit for the opening Bledisloe Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on July 29.
The squad will assemble on the Gold Coast on Thursday for a three-day camp before heading to Melbourne.
