Jake White relishing Bulls' prospects ahead of URC season run-in

Vodacom Bulls Director of Rugby, Jake White is excited by their season's prospects of reaching two semi-finals across two competitions.

The Bulls are gearing up for the return of the United Rugby Championship following a brief recess, and are eager to build on their form that catapulted them top of the South African Shield and second spot on the overall standings.

White, optimistic of playing their best rugby over the course of the next few weeks, believes they have every chance of progressing in both the European Rugby Champions Cup and the URC knockout stages.

''It's a nice place to go, I'm talking about where we are now - top of the South African group.

I said to the players - it is quite a nice place to be, say we play our best rugby in our next games, we are almost guaranteed of making two semifinals in two competitions,'' said White.

The former Springbok mentor is mindful of jumping the gun, although the fact that they have their destiny in their own hands gives him plenty of confidence.

''I'm just saying that we have got our destiny in our hands, there's so much to play for, which is always nice,'' added White.

The three-week break came in the midst of the Tshwane union regaining form as they recorded three wins on the trot against their local rivals, but White feels the timing was in fact optimal, given their upcoming run of games.

''We need a bit of refreshing, this time last year you know how difficult it was for us - after Christmas I got sick. The lesson from that, is that we need a break, because going forward we are going to face one month of intense rugby,'' he concluded.

The 60-year-old tactician is under no illusion of what they can expect in Newport, South Wales against the Dragons on Saturday, and won't fret over possible complacency.
