The reigning champions are in their second consecutive United Rugby Championship semifinal, having defeated the Bulls in the North-South rivalry over the weekend to set up a last-four clash with Irish side Connacht, who upset a heavily favoured Ulster the day before.
Du Plessis says they are wary of the visitors, who, like them, have only this title to fight for after being knocked out of the Champions' Cup, but the Bulls' victory has fueled their desire to once again be the last team standing.
"The Bulls game was a very important game for us. There was obviously a lot of talk about how many games we've won in a row against the Bulls, but we always knew that it's a quarterfinal and it can go any way, no matter what the past results have been. The guys will be looking forward to a perfect performance this weekend again," he said.
Meanwhile, backline coach Dawie Snyman claims they have yet to focus on what lies ahead. Instead, they’re still savouring their win over their old foes.
"Quarterfinals, it's always a tricky game. It's quite a long way from the final and we knew the Bulls, it's a quality side and they would have been up for that game. Obviously, to get past the quarterfinals, the SA derby can go both ways. We are really happy with the performance and then taking the next step to reach the final and see what we can do from there," Dawie said.
