URC: Boks back for Bulls for Edinburgh clash

Bulls boss Jake White has included Springboks Canan Moodie and Johan Grobbelaar in his matchday 23 to face Edinburgh in their United Rugby Championship opener.

The Pretoria franchise plays host to a Scottish team that pulled off a few surprise results last season. But the Bulls are eager to keep the Fortress Loftus moniker alive this Saturday.

Moodie starts on the right wing, with David Kriel (fullback and  Sebastian de Klerk (left wing) making a dangerous back-three.

Meanwhile, Grobbelaar will provide impact from a strong bench that also includes Marcel Coetzee, Junior Springbok star JF van Heerden and former Bok Aphiwe Dyantyi.

In the starting pack, Cobus Wiese - brother of Springbok Jasper - is set to make his Bulls debut at lock.

"It's always good to be able to step into a successful team like the Bulls, which has been in the URC playoffs every season," said the former Sale Sharks player.

"I think Jake is an incredible rugby brain, and I certainly came back to South Africa with the desire to grow my game even more. The quality of players in this group is incredible.

"I think my role is to try and add my little bit to hopefully take this team all the way this season. I learnt a lot up north and I'm looking forward to sharing some of that with my teammates.

"And from the start it was really easy to settle in here at Loftus. It felt like I'd been a part of this team for years."
