URC champions Glasgow Warriors put Lions to the sword in Scotland

The crowd at the Scotstoun Stadium in West End braved the howling gale and was treated to a try-fest in the opening stanza. Playing with the strong wind at their back, the hosts were ruthless.

Prop Nathan McBeth barrelled over from close range in the fifth minute, setting the tone for the one-sided affair. Winger Jamie Dobbie then bagged a brace midway through the first half as he took advantage of the Lions' poor defence.

Nippy scrumhalf George Horne added to the growing tally for the Warriors in the 30th minute, putting the exclamation point on a long attacking sequence. The limp Lions looked to scrape through to the break, but relentless Glasgow did not let up.

Adam Hastings - who kicked seven from seven off the tee - went over following a weaving run, while hooker Grant Stewart crashed over the whitewash for the hosts seventh and final try of the match.

The second half was a dour affair, with both sides coughing up the ball at key moments. An improved Lions defensive set and the strong winds kept Glasgow scoreless, with the final whistle bringing sweet relief to all involved.
