Matlou says while the women’s league is developing well, a lot is still lacking and more needs to be done, including proper PR and Marketing as well as better administration.
"I still believe that Hollywoodbets Super League still needs to be improved in regards to PR and marketing and also the involvement from the business aspect of things. Looking at how those teams can be empowered because if you look at how things are being run it's about time women's football is regarded as a business, the same way PSL teams are being run," Matlou said.
"So, there's a whole lot of things that still need to be done for the betterment of the game, from the team's perspective, PR related in terms of administration, how they are supposed to be marketing their teams and how do they bring the support base. How they make themselves known out there. People can now decide whether they want to support Lindelani or whatever the case may be."
Matlou, who is also a former Technikon Pretoria student (now known as TUT) adds there are former women footballers who are willing to assist clubs with mentoring for the betterment of the league.
Currently, there are several former women footballers who are in coaching positions in the Hollywoodbets Super League – the likes of Nthabeleng Modiko, Thinasonke Mbuli, Maud Khumalo, Janine van Wyk, Fikile Sithole and Unathi Mabena. Matlou, a former TUT coach, explains.
"As former players, the role in assisting the clubs is quite important I mean already we've got legends who are coaching clubs, Coach Dunga, Coach Maud, Coach Fikile who's coaching TS Galaxy, we also have Coach Deli. So, with the experience as custodians of football, I think we need to take it upon ourselves to get involved for the betterment of the game."
