Al Ahly and Egypt international Emam Ashour sentenced to six months in jail for assault

Al Ahly and Egypt international footballer Emam Ashour has been sentenced to six months in jail for assaulting a security guard at a mall in Sheikh Zayed.

The 26-year-old's case was initially cleared by the Court of First Instance, but the public prosecution appealed, leading to the six-month sentence.

The incident took place on June 20, when Ashour reportedly entered the mall with a group of 10 to 15 people.

According to Ahram Online, Ashour and his companions disregarded mall regulations, which led to a confrontation.

During the altercation, Ashour allegedly insulted the security guard, Abdullah Mostafa, before pushing him to the ground. Mostafa reportedly lost consciousness and was taken to Sheikh Zayed Central Hospital, where he was found to have a bruise on his right leg.

According to Emam Ashour KingFut, Ashour's lawyer, Mohamed Othman, said the judgment was issued in absentia and that neither Ashour nor his legal team were informed of the appeal date, which is why they did not attend.

Othman added that they plan to appeal, which will temporarily suspend the sentence pending a review.
