On Thursday, the Nasr City Misdemeanor Court sentenced El-Shahat for assaulting Pyramids' Mohamed Chibi last summer.
This ruling follows a complaint filed by Chibi regarding an incident on the final matchday of the previous season, in which Pyramids FC defeated Al Ahly 3-0 in a match that held no significance for the Reds, who had already secured the Egyptian Premier League title.
Despite the match's lack of stakes, tensions flared between players and coaching staff. Mohamed Chibi became the focal point after engaging in several altercations with Al Ahly players. Following the game's conclusion, Hussein El-Shahat was seen slapping Chibi, claiming that the Moroccan had insulted him and his family.
As a result, Al Ahly released an official statement announcing that El-Shahat had been fined 500,000 EGP, acknowledging his mistake and apologizing for his actions. Additionally, El-Shahat was fined 220,000 EGP by the EFA and suspended for two games.
Chibi persisted in filing a court complaint against El-Shahat, accusing him of bullying, assault, insult, defamation, intimidation, and threats of physical harm. These actions were said to have caused both psychological and physical harm, especially after videos of the slapping incident circulated on social media.
The court ruled: "The Nasr City Misdemeanor Court sentenced Hussein El-Shahat to one year in prison with a suspended sentence, a fine of EGP 100,000, and a five-year ban from membership in any club."
