Armando Broja: Resurgent Chelsea trying to 'turn it around'

Armando Broja is convinced that Chelsea's recovery is underway after the Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Newcastle United.

Armando Broja is convinced that Chelsea's recovery is underway after the Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Newcastle United.

Mauricio Pochettino's charges were down in 12th place in the Premier League after the 2-0 defeat at Everton earlier this month, but back-to-back wins seem to indicate that they've turned a corner.

The Blues beat Sheffield United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to climb back into the top 10, and squeezed past Newcastle 5-3 on penalties in the Carabao Cup, after a 1-1 draw in normal time on Tuesday.

Broja believes the latest result is evidence of Chelsea's resurgence as they aim to fight their way back into the Premier League's top six.

"We have had a few unfortunate results but we are trying to turn it around, kickstart the season and push on forward," said Broja, according to the official Chelsea website.

"I feel we have been sticking together and digging in deep.

"Obviously we want to keep pushing for the league, which is the most important thing. But this competition is a chance to win a trophy and we want to win a trophy. That is what Chelsea is all about. It is a good opportunity for us now that we are in the semi-finals.

"We have got a whole bunch of new players and we have got to get that rhythm and get that bond together. It is not going to be easy and it is not going to happen overnight. People have to understand that.

"Games like these show our spirit in the team and we stuck together and dug deep and got the result at the end of the game, which is the most important thing.

"We have been playing some really good football. So hopefully we can keep going forward and this result will bring us more positive results."
