Arne Slot unfazed by Trent Alexander-Arnold's Real Madrid rumours

Liverpool manager Arne Slot refused to be drawn into the speculation surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold's potential move to Real Madrid.

The defender produced a stellar performance in a 5-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday evening.

Alexander-Arnold, who delivered a stunning goal during the match, has been the subject of reports from Spain suggesting he has agreed to join the Spanish giants next summer.

Adding fuel to the rumours, his hand-to-ear celebration and a cryptic social media post featuring him whispering to Mohamed Salah have sparked debate among fans.

When asked about the impact of the speculation on the team, Slot offered a measured response, declining to confirm or deny any potential move.

The manager also sidestepped questions about how the rumours might affect Liverpool's plans, instead praising Alexander-Arnold's maturity and ability to block out external noise.

"I don't think it's negative at all," Slot said.

"He [Alexander-Arnold] scored a great goal, the way he celebrated that goal tells you enough. I don't think I have to say much more about it.

"I'm really happy with Trent, just as happy as I am with Mo and Virgil, so for me there's no difference. Maybe in the outside world but I'm really happy with all three.

"[In January] People will be talking more about it, not only about these three but also about other players, it's always a month where players can make a transfer.

"So it won't just be about these three but it will also be about the players we could bring in, or ones who could also leave. That's always the thing with summer and January."

With Alexander-Arnold and other key players, including Salah and Virgil van Dijk, nearing the end of their contracts, Liverpool face a pivotal period. For now, Slot appears focused on keeping his squad united amid growing uncertainty.
